This is your task:
You have just sat through another Civil Rights class, but in your mind you have no real idea of what it was like during this time. Your job is to find out just a small amount of information. You will have to do some digging around, so be careful. This is not a friendly time period. The people of this time do not take well to news reporters poking around in their business! While you are there you are to create a news article. You and your partner are to make sure the following questions are answered in the article.
Your task is to create a news article that describes the following:
* Where did the riots take place, get as specific as possible? (Street names, neighborhoods, ect.)
* When the riot began and end, make dates as specific as you can?(make sure to specify which is which)
* Why did the riot start, make sure to give specific reasons? (What were some of the feelings of the people)
* Who was involved, make sure you list names? (Make sure to mention people that were involved in the start of the riots, those that were for the riots, and those against the riots)
* How many people were hurt and killed, on both sides? (If there were not any, make sure to say that!)
* What was done to resolve the riot? (Was a resolution given? IF not, what would you recommend to end the riots)
* What type of violence/ laws were broken? (List all the ways people rioted.)
Students should also answer all 5 questions from the process page. Answers should be given on the sheet provided. A yes/no answer is not acceptable. These questions can be worked on as a group, but they should be at least 2-3 sentences each.
Happy Reporting and Good Luck!!
